BedsideRx Program
As part of Bon Secours’ mission to bring good help to those in need, St. Mary’s Hospital now offers the convenient option of hospital bedside delivery of prescriptions through the BedsideRx Program. If a patient chooses to use the BedsideRx service, a pharmacist will deliver and counsel the patient on his or her discharge prescriptions prior to discharge. The BedsideRx Program makes the transition from hospital to home easier for the patient.
The BedsideRx Program is currently available on 15 units: Progressive Telemetry Unit (4E), Pediatrics Unit (6W), Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (4), Postpartum Unit (3W), Antepartum Unit (3E), Orthopaedics/Joint Replacement Unit (5S), General Surgery Unit (5E), Newborn Intensive Care Unit (3), Women's Specialty Care Unit (3N), Medical/Surgical Unit (2N), Cardiovascular Services Unit (CVSU), Spine Center (5W), Oncology Unit (6E), Neuroscience Unit (6S) and Progressive Surgical and Bariatric Unit (PSBU). The service is also available to patients at St. Mary's Outpatient Infusion Center (OPIC). Any patient on one of those units being discharged on week days between 8:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. or on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. can choose to participate in the BedsideRx Program. To participate, a patient simply notifies his or her nurse and has his or her prescription insurance card and co-pay method ready. An outpatient pharmacy member collects the prescriptions, insurance card and co-pay method and dispenses the medications from the outpatient pharmacy. A pharmacist quickly delivers the discharge medications to the patient’s bedside and counsels the patient on his or her medications.
Beyond providing an easy, time-saving option for obtaining prescriptions and over-the-counter items prior to discharge, the BedsideRx Program can also help improve patients’ adherence and prevent missed doses, which can speed up the healing process.
Located in the lobby of St. Mary’s Hospital, the Good Health pharmacy is a convenient resource for hospital visitors, employees, and volunteers. In addition to filling prescriptions, the retail pharmacy offers various over-the-counter items, drinks, and snacks. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturdays 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
