Children's Services

We make kids feel better!

Our purpose is to provide high-quality healthcare for children and their families. We accomplish this by providing our patients and their families team-based, compassionate care, with attention to body, mind, and soul. We implement this vision as we support, nurture, and encourage each other.

We provide our services through four hospitals:

St. Mary's Hospital,
in Richmond's West End
5801 Bremo Road

(804) 285-2011

All Bon Secours hospitals provide pediatric emergency services, and at St. Mary's Hospital, you'll find the West End's only dedicated Pediatric Emergency Department. In addition, our three hospitals with birthing services have state-of-the-art Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs) with neonatology on site 24/7 to provide high-level care to newborns and infants. The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at St. Mary's is staffed by dedicated intensivists to provide critical care to your child or teen.

Our diverse, highly trained, and dedicated staff of pediatric professionals delivers comprehensive pediatric care in a wide range of specialties including allergy and immunology, cardiology, ENT, general surgery, orthopaedics, and urology. (For a full list of pediatric subspecialties, click here.)

We know that having a sick child can fill the lives of parents and other family members with stress, uncertainty, and, at times, sadness. That's why we do everything we can to take care of parents and family members who have a sick child. From free parking, washers and dryers, sleeping chairs for overnight visits, and spiritual care, we go beyond medicine to try to address the needs of the whole person, the whole family.

At Bon Secours, we not only want kids to get well, we want children and their families to thrive through programs and services that include the Love and Learn education program, Commonwealth Parenting, A Woman's Place, and Safe Harbor.

Thanks to the generosity of many in the Richmond community, the Bon Secours Richmond Health Care Foundation underwrites many projects that touch the lives of our pediatric patients. Many of the programs delivered through our Mission and Outreach Services receive financial assistance from the Foundation, including the Care-A-Van, Controlling Asthma in the Richmond Metropolitan Area (CARMA), Safe Kids, and the Forensic Nursing program. We strive to be part of our community — not just located in it. And through these services, we provide healthcare to the least fortunate among us.

We have provided these pages to help you locate the resources you or someone you love may need. To learn about our medical facilities, tests and services, and more importantly, to learn about the people who will make up your child's care team. At Bon Secours, it goes beyond medical training and equipment. We use our training and equipment to provide gentle, compassionate care to your child and you. Many of us are also parents, and we treat your child like our own.
