Pediatric Genetics

Genetic disorders are differences in body structure, brain development, or body chemistry that can lead to health, development, academic, and social problems. A Pediatric Geneticist is a physician who has been specially trained to diagnose and treat children who have genetic illnesses.

At Bon Secours, our Pediatric Geneticists diagnose and treat many genetic disorders, including:

  • Albinism
  • Autism spectrum disorders
  • Chromosomal disorders, such as Klinefelter syndrome, Turner syndrome, and Down syndrome
  • Costello syndrome
  • Cystic fibrosis
  • Fetal alcohol syndrome
  • Fragile X syndrome
  • Inherited hearing loss conditions
  • Marfan syndrome
  • Metabolic disorders
  • Neurofibromatosis
  • Sickle cell disease
  • Stickler syndrome

Genetics can be complicated, but our Pediatric Geneticists will explain your child's condition so you understand it completely. We can also help you find other information about your child's condition. Genetic disorders affect the entire family, so we'll offer advice about how you, your child, and other family members can cope with a condition, and we'll take the time to answer all of your questions, too. Having a child with a genetic disorder can be stressful. At Bon Secours, we will provide state-of-the-art diagnosis and management for infants, children, and teens and an open, compassionate environment to help ease your worries.
