Mission Statement
The Mission of the
Bon Secours Health System is to bring compassion to healthcare and to be good help to those in need, especially those who are poor and dying. As a system of caregivers we commit ourselves to help bring people and communities to health and wholeness as part of the healing ministry of Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church.

Children's Services
Family Centers

The Bon Secours Family Centers support and promote a healthy work/life balance by providing childcare services to employees and students of Bon Secours and others in the surrounding community as space allows. Bon Secours employees receive first priority, and spaces are filled on a first come, first served basis.

Quality day and extended day care for children is available at the Family Centers located at:

  • St. Mary's Hospital campus in the West End
  • Robert L. Taylor Child Care Center in the East End
  • Memorial Regional Medical Center campus in Mechanicsville
  • St. Francis Medical Center campus in Midlothian

Services are provided to children 6 weeks and older Monday through Saturday with hours to accommodate varying shifts and schedules. A full range of scheduling options and services are available such as full time, part time, rotating shift and back-up care. The fees are determined according to the parent's schedule. Services available include:

  • Back-up/drop-in childcare. We offer care on a space-available basis, in cases of extreme weather or when normal childcare arrangements fall through. Care is also available with pre-registration for employees who do not use Bon Secours childcare services on a regular basis.
  • Babysitting nights. These include activities, parties and crafts for infants up to age 12 and are offered periodically on Saturday nights for those registered at the Family Center.
  • School vacation camps. We offer a variety of programs to school-age children up to age 12 during winter, spring and summer breaks.

Children at the Family Centers enjoy daily planned activities focusing on developing each child socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually toward independence. Activities include a balance of quiet and active play and learning experiences that are both teacher-directed and child-selected. The learning plans are based on monthly themes and are designed to promote the development of the whole child, with emphasis on literacy. Extension activities include regular music, physical fitness, science and sign language programs.
