Four questions with St. Mary's employees who have been with Bon Secours Richmond for 40 years

  1. What do you enjoy most about your work at St. Mary's Hospital?

"I just like the people I work with. There's always room to grow. You're learning something new everyday. St. Mary's has a very good reputation. We're Magnet. Everybody seems interested in you, your feelings and opinions."

    — Anne P. Loftin, Orthopedics, Spinal Unit, has been at St. Mary's for nine years
  2. What makes St. Mary's different?

"The thing I like about St. Mary's is the people. We are like a very large family, working together as a team to provide 'good help to those in need.'"

    — Gail H. Moore, Nurse Administration, came to St. Mary's from Stuart Circle Hospital
  3. Why have you stayed at St. Mary's for 40 years?

"I have to say it's been wonderful. I love it. I love the people I work with. When other hospitals opened, people would ask if I was going to work there. But this is like home to me. I can't describe how I love working here."

    — Mary W. Evans, Mother-Infant Unit, who has worked at St. Mary's for 40 years. She is 67 and still working part-time.
  4. What changes have you seen through the years?

"Being here so long, you watch the changes each year and the changes have been for better. I know we're going to expand more, but the place is wonderful."

    — Mary W. Evans, Mother-Infant Unit
