Campus Crime Report

Pursuant to the federal Jeanne Clery Disclose of Campus Security Police and Campus Crime Statistics Act (“Clery Act”), the School of Medical Imaging is required to annually compile and publish crime statistics. This annual report, which is due in October, must include statistics of specified crimes reported to local police agencies that occurred on or near campus and on School controlled or affiliated property. The criminal offenses that the campus is required to report are the following offenses as defined by the FBI Uniform Crime Report (sex offenses are defined using the UCR-National Incident-Based Reporting System).

  1. Murder; non-negligent manslaughter
  2. Negligent manslaughter
  3. Forcible sex offenses
  4. Non-forcible sex offenses
  5. Robbery
  6. Aggravated assault
  7. Burglary
  8. Motor vehicle theft
  9. Arson

In addition, this office gathers statistics that manifest evidence of a hate crime. Hate crimes are those crimes that manifest evidence that the victim was intentionally selected because of the victim’s race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, ethnicity/national origin or disability.

Lastly, the School is required to submit statistics for arrests for:

  1. Liquor law violations
  2. Drug law violations
  3. Illegal weapons possession.

There were no reportable incidents on the School property as reported by the Henrico County Police Department and the business park security patrol.

For clarification, there were 3 burglary reports in April 2009; 2 at 8565, and 1 at 8560 Magellan Parkway. Burglary is reportable; however, no thefts occurred, and burglary reports are not required through the Clery Act.
